Hotel rewards experiences: Hampton vs. Hyatt

Well after researching some hotels for the honeymoon and looking into a hotel reservation fro a coming business trip I am astonished that some hotels are still charging for wireless access. I completely understand making customers use a code or some way of limiting the service to guests since I have set up such systems before. I do not understand the need to charge someone an extra $10 dollars per day after they put up enough cash to stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. I even signed up for the Hyatt gold passport hoping they would extend free wifi to preferred customers but no dice.

On the other hand I just booked our honeymoon at a Hampton Inn and suite and after joining their rewards program last week and getting an upgraded to a GOLD VIP member for free I was very impressed with the service rendered. It took all of 2 minutes to make hotel reservations and probably would have been half that time if I hadn’t been driving and trying to read a number at the same time.

With Hampton, they knew where I wanted to stay, room size, bed size, smoking preferences, near an elevator far from an elevator etc. O yeah they also have free wireless at ALL of their locations.

My recommendation to travelers get the Hampton rewards program and don’t waste your money on the Hyatt. Sure they are upscale but can you check your email without giving up an extra 10 bucks?
