I currently have the Samsung i730 smartphone which is EVDO capable. However I live in NW Ohio, where theres is currently no EVDO coverage. I sent this letter to Verizon regarding a timetable for EVDO deployment in my area.

Here is the letter I sent to Verizon.

Hello,
I am on my second EVDO capable phone and the Samsung i730 which was preceded by the LG VX8000. I am in the 45840 area code and I would like to know when I should be able to expect to take advantage of the EVDO features on my phone. When I purchased the EVDO capable LG VX8000 in February I was told to expect service near December of 2005 in the NW Ohio area but it has yet to come. Meanwhile I am paying the same for my unlimited data package as someone in Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL who gets a much faster connection and can also receive a call while the phone is connected for data.
Please let me know when I can expect to be able to use the EVDO features of my phones in the future and an explanation as to why we non EVDO users pay as much for the same connection as the EVDO users do.
Thank You for your time and help.

Thank you for contacting our Verizon Wireless website. We are happy to assist you with your BroadbandAccess (EVDO) question.

We appreciate your interest in the latest technology in wireless data service. Verizon Wireless is constantly improving the services and features that we offer to our customers for their communication needs. We are incorporating the Broadband Access service in other areas with the anticipated completion of the entire Verizon Wireless service areas by first half of 2006. Currently, we are unable to provide information regarding which cities are being considered or approximate start dates, as this may raise expectations that may not be met.

So not as quick as expected but I am glad to at least have some timetable. I really wish they would stop advertising Vcast and High Speed Wireless Data in my area until they get the infrastructure out there but I am at the mercy of Verizon.
