Official Playstation Magazine Editor Goes 360!
Dana Jongewaard, the editor of OPM has decided to purchase an Xbox 360. You can check out the decision making process on her blog at 1up. Basically it boils down to the PS3 having a high price point and not having any killer apps or even large name titles dropping near launch. She also notes that she does not want a Blue Ray player which Sony is pitching as a reason for the high price. This is not the first time this issue has been raised in the media.
Changing gears next week I am going to be in a Madden tournament at my local Gamestop! SO far I am the second sign up and the prizes have yet to be announced. Unfortunately the console of choice is the PS2. When I questioned the choice, I found out it boiled down to Gamestop no longer having a demo Xbox and not being allowed to change discs in the resident 360. Wish me luck as the PS2 controller is as natural as a chicken sleeping with a weasel!

Getting back on the wagon
Friday afternoon I started exercising again in order to get in better shape. Amber and I have continued running and eating healthier for about 5 days now. Freaking amazing isn’t it. So far I have biked about 12 miles and run 2-3, and should increase that greatly tomorrow. I am no Floyd Landis so don’t expect miracles on the bike. If you want to pick up some cool health info head over to healthacker.com, where the health tips are geared towards geeks and the tech inclined. Another part of my health crusade involves cutting my eating out meals down to 1 lunch meal a week and 2 evening meals a week. This is a pretty large cutback for me and will take some work with graduate school keeping me away from home one more night a week.
Hope to report back in a few months with a slimmer waist and a fatter wallet.
Cleaning Call For Help
Go pick up the phone and call your mom, say hi and tell her you love her. Next ask her what can take vegatable oil off of a painted wall. If she doesn’t know start calling your aunts and uncles, maybe ask the friendly people you work with. After you find out let me know because we have vegatable oil on our kitchen wall. I am hoping there is something short of sanding, priming, and repainting that will improve the visual style of our kitchen. Thanks for the help!
Dead Rising Demo Available
In case you haven’t caught the newsflash a Dead Rising Demo hit XBL this afternoon. I am currently downloading it, the whole GB of it. I wish I could get a text message alert when a new demo is released on XBL. I have the usual RSS reader set up however on a busy day you don’t find out about these releases until shortly after midnight. I am starting to enjoy the new trend of XBLA title on Wednesday and a decent demo hitting at within the week. These Friday demo releases still catch me off guard. Also Welcome back Joystiq readers of the Halo 2 Profanity study. I will be back in Halo 2 after about a 4 month break starting next week, so watch for that level as well as f bombs to drop.
Cooking Bratwurst In Beer, MMM MMM Good
Today I recieved a great tip for grilling bratwurst. My pal Mark let me know that an amazing way to cook bratwurst is to boil the bratwurst with a can of beer for 5 minutes. Don’t worry, If you only have a bottle of beer this works too. After boiling them for 5 minutes grill until done, most likely only 5-6 minutes longer depending on your grill. This method for Beer brats is great and using spicy bratwurst really takes the taste over the top.
Sony Micro Vault Tiny On Sale At Staples
This week Staples has the 512 MB and 1 GB versions of thier super small thumbdrives on sale for 14.95 and 24.95 respectively. Staples currently has several promotions running which can lower the price even further. A $10 off $30 coupon can lower the 512MB version to $5 after rebate with any small filler item. A $15 off $40 coupon is also available to bring the 1 GB version down to $15 after rebate. If you get really tricky you may be able to stack the 12% off coupon (pdf) that is floating around to get an even better deal, though that didn’t fly at my local staples. The coupons seem to be hit or miss at your local store. Good luck bargain hunting.
