Possible Fall Dashboard Update Release Date

On Major Nelson’s podcast this week he commented on the use of the Xbox 360 wireless headset which he has been testing. He went on to say that the wireless headset will not work with the Xbox in your house until it gets the Fall update.

Looking at EB Games, Gamestop, Bestbuy, Amazon, Buy.com and others all list the ship date for the wireless headset as 10/31/06. If this isn’t a placeholder that would put the Fall update release within the next week. This would make sense with the Xbox Live maintenance which was just completed last week. The maintenance supposedly enabled many new features some of which were required for the fall update. Will we see the fall update before Halloween?
