Tear Any Menisci Lately?
Tuesday morning of this week I was lucky enough to slip on a patch of ice in front of our apartment. When I fell I heard the one thing you never want to hear, no not the sound of people laughing at you, a pop! For the un-initiated, if you fall or twist your knee in an odd direction and hear a pop or a snap you have most likely injured your something inside your knee such as the meniscus, or your ACL amongst other possibilities. I spent Thursday morning laying down listening to my MRI mix CD as I tried to remain still and ignore the clacking and whirring taking place near my nether regions. I have one recommendation of you, DO NOT put loads of upbeat music or “foot tapping” music on an MRI Mix CD. Friday I found out that my meniscus was torn and I need to see an orthopedic surgeon. I am also psyched by the “low” deductible our insurance has. /sarcasm
I am currently hobbling around with a knee brace until then. We have an ice storm heading our way right now, so be careful if you decide to navigate the sidewalks tomorrow.

I just found out I may have the same problem, but my pain comes and goes and the pain seems to shift around in my knee. I am scheduling an MRI and possible scoping procedure.
I just wanted to say that I tore my ACL and Meniscus last August and had surgery in September and am now going for an MRI this afternoon because my orthopedic surgeon thinks that I have retorn my Meniscus. This was all caused by cheerleading! So for everyone that is going through this, trust me, I know what it’s like! Just keep going and be careful so you don’t end up like me…two surgeries in one year!
@Brandi: That’s a major bummer, I know I am nervous anytime I make quick turns on my knee, I know I’d be way more paranoid about it if I had to have surgery again!
