The Dumb Little Man blog has a nice posting on how to get out of a crabby mood. The list has some good ones on it and includes my sure fire way to beat a crabby mood.

6. Make Someone Else Happy. Who could you cheer up today? Who could you thank or compliment? Who could you send a quick handwritten note to? You can really have fun with this, so go ahead and do it!

Whenever I am in a crappy mood other than listening to some good music, buying flowers or a card for my wife helps me get back into a happier state.  Try it next time, it works!

Don’t Enter 1408, But Watch It!

Amber and I just finished watching 1408.  This movie starring John Cusack is amazing.  This movie simultaneously earns two awards from me.  1408 ranks in my top 20 movies (top 5 scary movies if you are counting) and Movie I never want to see again.

1408 is one of the freakiest movies I have seen…ever.  The screenplay, adapted from a short story by Stephen King does a marvelous job of taking you places you don’t see coming again and again.  The move eschews the standard “pop goes the weasel” scare moments horror and scary movies have turned to recently for invoking genuine fear.

Thankfully the movie includes some “lighter” moments when viewers can laugh at the dark, dark humor.  You should watch this movie…with other people…in the day….with a nice unicorn chaser.

Samsung SCH-i760 Released and On The Way

Friday morning welcomed the release of the Samsung SCH-i760 which I have been coveting for the past year. The Windows Mobile 6 phone includes a 1.3 MP camera and a landscape sliding keyboard. The i760 also packs in Wifi and EVDO into a package just about half as thick as my current i730. You can find out more information about the Samsung SCH-i760 on my resource page.

I ordered mine on Friday morning for $99 plus tax. This is down from the retail price of $519. A two year agreement will drop the price to $399 and if you can use your New Every 2 and the online discount the price is dropped to $199. Take note that some users are having trouble getting the NE2 and Online Discount to combine! If you are a user of Verizon’s data package you can get the ADD discount dropping the phone to $99. You may or may not be able to use the mail in rebate to get your price down to $49 for a Windows Mobile 6 smartphone.

Spirit of Texas Salsa Rocks!

Salsa SOTSYou may have noticed the addition of a sponsor to the site shortly after the redesign went live. Spirit of Texas Salsa Company based out of Texas is a new advertiser and in lue of the first payment I asked for a case of salsa. I don’t think I have mentioned it here before but not much compares to delicious salsa and some salty tortilla chips.

I tried the Mild, Medium, and Hot flavors from Spirit of Texas Salsa Company and I would have to say my personal favorite is the medium with Hot in a close second. The medium has a great range of flavors including just the right amount of cilantro. All of the flavors have a great consistency which sits somewhere between the “chunky” you find in the national brands and the more pureed version of salsa that is common in local Mexican restaurants. The mild has good flavor but lacks enough kick for me.

I shared the Medium and the Hot with my classmates tonite and everyone enjoyed the flavor and the Hot became a challenge for a few. I think if the hot could be a little bit less hot or the medium was bumped up just a little I would have the perfect blend. The bump in heat could come form either some more black pepper This is easily rmedied for my personal taste by dropping some hot into the medium!

Right now you can get the Salsa in select stores in many Southern states and online by visiting their gourmet food store or clicking the link in the right sidebar. I am hoping I can talk the local supermarket into carrying the salsa since it looks like I will run out quickly. If you work for Fresh Encounters in Findlay, OH or know who to reach to get a product on the shelf let me know.

As of today October 16, they are running a special in that you can get a free jar of salsa by paying the $5.00 shipping which is a steal for salsa this good.

Assasin’s Creed Gameplay Videos

IGN has some great gameplay footage from the upcoming Ubisoft title Assassin’s Creed. It Looks spectacular. I hope they can strike a balance between the enemies who seem to only attack one at a time and realism. If my back is turned to 4 guys I would expect at least one of them to take a swing at me. There are several videos to check out and they are worth expanding to the higher resolution versions.

I can’t wait to pick this one up when it drops.

Halo 3 Supergeek Contest at WIRED

WIRED is having a Halo 3 Supergeek contest right now and as you may have guessed I have entered. The contest has some sweet prizes and runs through late October.

  • Grand Prize: one Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360 Game Console, one limited edition Xbox 360 controller, one limited edition Halo 3 wireless headset, and one Xbox Live gold 12 month subscription card.
  • First Runner Up: one limited edition Halo 3 Xbox 360 wireless controller, one Xbox Live 1600 point card, one Xbox Live Gold 12 month subscription, and one Army-style MRE.
  • Second Runner Up: One Xbox Live 1600 point card, one Mini first aid kit, and one Army-style MRE.

My entry revolves around my Master Chief Fleece Blanket, which was hand made by my wife for Christmas ‘05.

Unfortunately I couldn’t fit a link to my NSFW Halo 2 Profanity Study in the description field in the form which despite its 500 character note is actually limited to 100.

Though the survey has user voting (VOTE FOR ME! /subliminal) the actual contest is voted on by, “a panel of judges comprised of Wired editors. The judges will score entries based on the following criteria: geekiness (50%) and creativity (50%). The entry with the highest overall score will be declared the potential winner.”. I am worried my blanket will falter on the geekiness factor, which is why I hoped to include info on my Xbox Live Profanity Study and the Actionclix and action figures I have. Admit it you read that last sentence and thought, “Damn thats Geeky!”

Samsung SCH-i760 gets Dated..Agian

Well after following the Samsung SCH-i760 scene for 9-10 months now and sitting through so many dates we could be considered a couple, a real date is surfacing in many locations.  At this point it is still a rumor but October 19th looks to be the release date for B2B and internet sales of the SCH-i760.  This date has been kicked around the pdaphonehome.com Samsung i760 rumor thread, which was so long it had to be split into two threads, for the last week.

This has also been supplemented be a posting of more Verizon Phone release dates on the Boy Genius Reports.  The list has the i760 at the bottom slated for October 19th and even includes Verizon’s “iPhone killer” due out November 18th.

Verizon Launch Dates small

If you need to whet your appetite more head over to sixftunda’s blog where he has been covering the 760 in great detail after he picked one up during the early release last month. His postings include reviews, accessories, battery life, and some software information.  I am quite jealous of him.
