Site Update: Permalinks and Wordpress Plugins

February 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Last week I upgraded to “semi-fancy” permalinks with the help of Dean’s Permalink Migration Tool for Wordpress.  This tool in theory sends visitors to old web addresses to the new ones via a 301 redirect.
Thus far I have had good luck though Alex King’s 404 Notifier has been picking up some explainable and some odd [...]

Tobias Buckell’s Ragamuffin On Nebula Final Ballot

February 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Ragamuffin, Tobias Buckell’s killer follow up to Crystal Rain is on the final ballot for the Nebula award! I really enjoyed Ragamuffin and found it built really well on the universe laid out in Crystal Rain. The fact that Pepper was back and kicking ass was another huge bonus. As John Scalzi [...]

February 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Engadget broke the story on HP’s rumoured UMPC given a very minimalist name, the UMPC 2133, which is supposed to be entering the market during Spring 08 for a yet to be determined low price.  I think this laptop looks gorgeous and if it comes in with even decent specs for ~$600-800 It will likely [...]

All Your Batteries Are Belong To Us!

February 19th, 2008 · No Comments

I received the above error message last nite upon logging in, which complements the random beeps and USB issues my current laptop is experiencing.  Such a great, blunt and too the point message.  Who wouldn’t want to see this.
I’ll share the choices I currently have for my next laptop in a post later this week.

Trixie Leaves Major Nelson Off The Top 10 Cute Boys in Journalism

February 18th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Talk about a “Major” diss, last week Trixie put together a list of the Top 10 Cute boys in gaming journalism and left good ol’ Major Nelson off the list!  I don’t know if Larry Hyrb is technically a gaming journalist but he does manage to sneak into the shot above with Geoff Keighley.  I [...]

Windows XP Codec For Samsung SC-D363 Camera

February 15th, 2008 · No Comments

I just got a Samsung SC-D363 camera and I was bummed to find that Samsung used a non standard codec to record the video to the SD card!  This means in Windows XP you can open up a video file in Windows Media player and you will only get the audio portion of your family [...]

AnEEE EEE PC Users in NW Ohio?

February 15th, 2008 · No Comments

In part of what may be an ongoing search for a new laptop I am trying to get some hands on time with an EEE PC and so far haven’t found any in a store to try.  So my next ploy is searching for a reader or random Googler who would want to meet up [...]
