It’s a Wii filled Wiikend
Last night we “camped” out at Walmart with Toby for a Wii. After an hour and a half the assistant manager who was very nice rolled out a cart of 20 Wii (or Wiis?) and the checkout began. My wife and I stayed up til about 2 playing Wii sports and we are heading out to rent a game today after we see Smoking Aces and grab some Outback.
So far the games are jsut FUN. I can’t wait to try out the controller on some non sports games and to get some virtual console games.
Word onteh street is that Meijer in Findlay is expecting some stock in for a Saturday February 3rd / 4th distribution if you didn’t get one this last weekend.
Does Wal-Mart have Wii in stock for Jan 28
I just got this flyer in my mail!
There is no number of units promised, an states no rainchecks so it could be all for nothing. Let me know if you get a Wii this wiikend. Good Luck!
Read Magazines on your WM5 PPC or Portable Device

I just found this site today, Perooz.com which has pre-formatted mobile versions of several popular magazines. These are all FREE and don’t require a special program to use. They are simply pictures.
Including:
FHM
Maxim
Stuff
GQ
Car and Driver
Road and Track
etc
They also have movie trailers available for download.
I found that choosing any device which sports a 320×240 screen gave me good results. To see the resolution simply look at the link location before you click. The Zune and iPod links appear to work well.
For Example “http://www.perooz.com/content/320/GQ-January_2007.zip”
I use XNveiw on my PDA to read them.

Get A Better Cable TV Rate
This past month our cable/phone/internet bill through Time Warner increases 40%! The jump was up to $140 per month since our promotion had ended. Now I enjoy all these offerings but this was way to much to pay. I ended up taking the advice of the Personal Finance Advice Blog to lower my cable rate. I called up Time Warner last Friday and choose the option to remove a feature then the option for cancelling my service. I greeted the CSR who was helping me and explained the large increase had made me consider a direct tv offer which i mentioned in passing. I asked if she could get back to what I was paying before my rate increase rather than asking for a direct match. She immediately offered me my same service for $95 per month. I countered ans asked what kind of deal I could get with HDTV service included and she was able to offer it to me for $105 which I gladly accepted, though I eventually added the DVR functionality since that is the only way I watch TV nowadays for a total of $111 monthly. The killer part of this deal is that my rate is locked in for 18 months, thats a year and a half! That is even better news since the Personal Finance Blog is reporting that some cable companies are putting in a 2 month buffer between your promotion ending and the next one beginning.
Some Tips to Remember:
- Be Nice to the CSR
- Don’t make demands, ASK for a better deal
- Know what you want before you call
- Find out the length of your new rate, set this date as a reminder to call again in your calendar program.
- Have a competitor’s price and plan handy mention it but don’t focus on it.
Remember, only YOU can prevent high cable rates.
HD TV is Sweet
Today I was able to finally hook up HDTV from Time Warner! I spent the rest of the day watching various HD programs including some college football. It is amazing the difference which exists when you go to the SD channel and then switch back to the HD version. Thats all for now more later on the amazing deal I got from TW and how to get one of your own.

The Best Case for the Samsung SCH i730
This past week I was at Verizon while my wife and her parents renewed the their plans and reupped their contracts. I was toying around with the different cases which looked large enough to fit my i730. I found one which is meant for the Verizon G’zOne Type-V which holds the Samsung i730 perfectly. So far I use the case with the screen facing out and I do not experience th problems which plagued the other cases i have tried. The biggest problem I had faced revolved around the unlocking of the send and end buttons which caused unexpected hangups and answers when I removed the phone from the case. With this case I do not experience this issue and the phone fits nicely with the standard battery the extended battery is too thick to work. The closure is magnetic and works like a charm. Other than a thin sheet of polished aluminum which covered the same area as the standard holster, this is the best case i have encountered. It is currently $14.99 online and $19.99 in store unless you have one of the 25% off coupons they are currently passing out like candy.
