Cutting the Data Connection
Today I pulled the plug on my Data plan for the Samsung i730 through Verizon.
I am trying to avoid the chills and shakes that accompany withdrawal from the bliss I have known that is 24/7 wherever internet.
I had to cut the wireless wire due to financial constraints and an overpowering desire for an Xbox 360. I will save approximately $40 per month now which is a large amount to me.
The 24/7 connection was helpful in running my small business NWflow especially as we expand into our Student Moving and storage venture called Flowline
Although I found a spent about as much time working as I did browning pdaphonehome.com, engadget.com, boingboing.net, and Google Personalized Home-mobile.
Goodbye sweet sweet data.
I spent about 12 hours Saturday in a meeting with other owners of my small business trying to figure out new ventures and iron out our strategy for current operations, which is why posting has been sparse lately.
Look for some Nintendo issued papercraft later tonite.
How to put ringers on your cell phone
I read an article at the Consumerist about opt out policies that some ringtone download companies have which require a $10 monthly fee in order to opt out of their service. It inspired the following post on their site.
———
Paying for ringtones is asinine even from companies which do not use an opt out approach.
If you have the mental capacity to read an article then putting ringtones on your phone from your PC should be easy as cake for you.
well as easy as a tricky to make the first time but easy after that cake anyway.
steps.
1. Find a cable for your phone on Ebay. Many phones need one which acts as a serial port. This usb Cable has a large lump in it. More info on the correct cable can be found at howardforums.com or you can pick up a cable at yoru going out of business Radio Shack.
2. Get Bitpim, its at sourceforge.com
3. Use Bitpim’s built in editor or Audacity to trip mp3’s to 30 seconds or midi files if your phone can’t handle mp3 ringers.
4. Use Bitpim to transfer the ringers to your phone. Its a simple process that is straightforward and easy for many phones.
5. Having troubles? check howardforums.com or drop me a line and I’ll do my best to help you.

Time to get in shape
Well the fitness kick of spring hit early and I have started to eat better, well eat stuff that is better for me I still have a long way to go to be considered a healthy eater. I consume way to many diet colas and salty foods. I am migrating towards water and carrots and infusing salads into my meals more often.
It would be great if eating healthy weren’t so expensive. I can get so much more junkfood and processed food for what it costs to get fresh fruits and vegetables. If the government is concerned about obesity then they need to start subsidizing the cost of eating healthy in order to get people to start eating healthy.
So on to exercise. I started on Tuesday with a mile in 10 minutes which was pretty impressive for me considering the last time I actually “ran” a mile was somewhere near a year ago. Today we walked a mile in the evening and it helped releive some soreness but the remnants of my first days run have made quick movements a painful experience today.
Bla Bla Bla: We have run out of real news
Abc and the Boston globe amongst others have been running a story called The ‘Bla Bla Bla’ Heard ‘Round the World. This story is about a lawyer in Boston who was in essence hired then rescinded at the last minute while going through a small email exchange with his would be employer.

At this time, I am writing to inform you that I will not be accepting your offer.
After careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that the pay you are offering would neither fulfill me nor support the lifestyle I am living in light of the work I would be doing for you. I have decided instead to work for myself, and reap 100% of the benefits that I sow.
Thank you for the interviews.

Hold up Profanity Update
Reading through various linking sites regarding my Halo 2 Profanity Study, coming in from Fark.com, joystiq.com amongst others, it seems many people think I am uptight or want the government to crack down on the gaming industry.
You couldn’t be more wrong
If you re read the article please notice I do not want the government to do anything about this. We are adults the game is meant for adults and adults curse, hell I do it. I don’t want you to stop cursing. Cursing does not bother me if it did I would simply stop playing Halo. The only people who may want to do somthing about this should be Parents. My thinking is that if parents will take more responsibility then fewer will complain to the government and cause shackles to be put on the gmaing industry.
I wanted to know what the amount was since I play Halo so much. So I decided to do something semi productive and record the results.
Some people have also pointed out the survey size was too small and not spread out enough, True it could have been done better, if you don’t have a 40 hr a week job or if your job is studying stuff like this please by all means do better.
To sum it up, I want the government to get involved in the gaming industry as much as Gamers love Jack Thompson, aka not at all.

Ben Roethlisberger Loves Findlay…
Well he loves Findlay, OH for $130,000 per hour.
Yep folks the hometown who erected banners and billboards for him will have to shell that out if they want hiom to come back for a signing at the local mall. Seriously Ben, you have a multi million dollar contract yet you can’t just show up for a couple hours for the town you supposedly love so much, come on Rotty(Ben’s High School Nickname).
This is the same hometown whose Mayor Tony Iriti, is milking the fame and trying to get more exposure than Paris Hilton in her infamous video. Mr Iriti is basically bending over to get Ben home when the town is already facing financial issues and needs to cut back, but who cares Ben is sweet.
Yeah I would say Sweet is the right word.

Just a heads up You CANNOT attend a 4 year institution and walk away with only 19,000 in debt.
You also will not be pulling down $49,000 right out of College, especially as a journalist.
This is almost as asinine as Key Bank turning me down for a consolidation because my Debt to Income Ratio is too High.
My debt = 95% student loans 5% Car loan. Thats all. Apparently students should have much higher income when graduating and only have about 20 grand in debt.
The Federal Government needs to get with the times and figure out that simply because my parents have made it into some set bracket and I have saved some money for college shouldn’t take the amount I can get from them down to ooo next to nothing. They should also look at the cost of college when figuring out the amount of Student Loans to give to people.
