Friday nite I decided to pick up the HP tx2000 which is a tablet PC from HP.  If you have been following my Twitter Feed or reading along you may have noticed I have been looking for a new laptop for the past month.  I have been torn between an EEE pc, HP tx2000, Macbook, and the HP UMPC 2133.  I settled on the HP tx2000 due to the decent 12.1″ screen which is paired with an active and passive digitizer.

The tipping point was the review of the HP tx2000 on HardwareGeeks.com where the HP tx2000 won their “HardWare Geeks Editors’ Choice Gold Award“.  Of all the reviews I have read this one covered the most important points to me and offered a fair amount of critique in the review.  The review also focuses on the buttons available in the tablet mode which none of the other reviews touched on in as much depth.

I cannot wait to get mine!  HP has a sick sense of humor in that they are sending my extra battery to me on this Tuesday though I won’t have the tablet until the following week!

While I wait for the tablet  to arrive I am reading through the archives of jkOnTheRun and some other tablet specific blogs to get up and running with the knowledge specific to tablets.  I am planning a roundup once I get enough information, it will be something of a primer for a Tablet PC.  This may be delayed until shortly after the tablet arrives so that I can try out each of the tips.

Finally you can currently snag the HP tx2000 for $400 off with the coupon code NB0400 through March 9th.  If you are a discover card holder you can also get 5% cash back on the purchase.   Thanks to goes to Hardware geeks for the review and the coupon code.

I just got my HP Tx2000 Tablet pc… It is built to the hilt with a TL-68 2.4 ghz AMD, 4 gbs of ram 8 cell battery.

I dig this thing, I really do but HP and the (coupons) are a FARSE. I called with the NB0400 code…
The response- we don’t have any more of those- My question was- How many did you have to begin with… No answer, other than I don’t know.

I have received the same response with NB0500. In my not so humble OPINION… the HP COUPON DEAL is a —->SCAM<—- I HATE this type of trickery in advertising and promotion.

If on the otherhand you have gotten these coupons to work please send me an e-mail or post here.

I feel HP and other companies should be required to inform consumers exactly how many coupons are available and more importantly…. Remove all ads relating to said coupons when the are exhausted…

    Having said that…
I still love my Tx2000… so there… I said it and I’m glad I did.

    Happy trails,

    Hi,
I’m in the process of returning my SECOND tx2000 to HP. First one experienced infant mortality and wouldn’t turn on reliably. Second one arrived Friday and from the moment I turned it on, all I got was “Operating System Not Found”. Tech couldn’t fix it. So I have not had the opportunity to fall in love with it, and am taking this as a clear message to get something else. I’m bummed tho. Seemed like a pretty cool little machine.

I agree with cowboydoug - HP coupon codes are a scam. This morning at 9:39 an email form HP said use coupon code NBY4876 to receive $500 of purchasing a particular laptop with a particular mini. I immediately went to the HP site, configured a system, and tried to apply the coupon code, only to get a message saying it had expired. In 15 minutes! Live chat with a customer “service” rep confirmed that the code had indeed expired. About an hour later, at 10:25, I received another email with the same “offer.” Thinking that maybe more coupons had been made available, I once again got on the HP site and tried out the coupon. Of course, I got the same results. I would think that these types of scams would be illegal - it sure creates a very poor impression with potential customers.
